HowTo: Setup VoIP On Your iPhone

The following instructions describe how to setup and use VoIP on your iPhone. Once setup, you will be able to make Voxalot VoIP based calls over WiFi or the iPhone's 3G data connection.

Option A: Visit iTunes and search iPhone apps for "SIP" There are paid apps like SIP softphone and free apps like fring and nimbuzz that offer other attractive features like videoconferencing.

Option B: Non iTunes alternatives

Step 1: The first thing you need to do is to Jailbreak your iPhone. There are plenty of tutorials on the internet explaining this process. You can start by googling "quickpwn".

Note: Be sure to install the "Cydia" application when given the option.

Step 2: After Jailbreaking your iPhone, you need to start Cydia, then search for "SiAX" and install it.

Step 3: Start the SiAX application.

Step 4: Once SiAX successfully starts, you will need to setup some general settings. To do this, click on the Settings menu item on the bottom right.

Step 5: Define the following settings:

  • SIP STUN: On
  • SIP STUN Server: stun.voxalot.com
  • CODEC: <pick your favorite CODEC>

Step 6: You now need to setup a SIP provider. To add a provider, click on the Accounts menu item on the bottom right.

Step 7: Click the Edit button.

Step 8: Click the Add new SIP account.

Step 9: Define the following settings:

  • Domain: Enter your preferred Voxalot cluster i.e. us.voxalot.com, eu.voxalot.com or au.voxalot.com.
  • Username: Enter your six digit Voxalot member number.
  • Password: Enter your Voxalot password.

After entering your details, click the Save button.

Step 10: Make sure your newly added SIP account is enabled by clicking On.

Step 11: To test your setup, simply call: *600 You should hear the Voxalot echo test announcement. If you don't, re-check the above settings. In the event that you are still having difficulties, please consult our Support Forum.

You are now ready to dial and receive calls.
